Poobah - John Rodkey, Aeronca fanatic

What is this web site all about, what is this f-AA email list, and who is the Poobah?
I created the Fearless Aeronca Aviators web site to support the f-AA email list, which I had created in 1995 to help facilitate communication between Aeronca owners around the world.
Being a new owner of a 1946 Aeronca 11AC Chief, I desperately needed help with how to fly and land it, and to rebuild the wings when I discovered they were cracked. My interview by Ray Johnson describes the list formation.
Early on it became apparent that the list needed a name. Various proposals were floated, and I eventually settled on 'fearless Aeronca Aviators', and decreed that it be so named by virtue of being the grand poobah of the list. The name stuck.
In 1998, my son, Erik, and I set out on a month-long flying adventure. The main attraction was meeting the various members of the f-AA list and attending the National Aeronca Association's biannual convention, held at the Aeronca factory in Middletown, Ohio. You can read about our adventures in my daily journal.
Who am I, really? Well, I'm a follower of Jesus Christ (I attend Montecito Covenant Church), husband of my lovely wife Jeanne, father to my children, Elissa, Krista, Adelle and Erik, Associate Director of Information Technology at Westmont College, and Director of Archaeological Computing at The Zeitah Excavations. I like to play raquetball and soccer, love to sing (tenor), play classical piano passably well, and dabble with guitar and recorder.
